As the hot-air balloon gently lifts off, you’ll be taken on a mesmerizing journey, guided by the morning winds. From high above, marvel at the breathtaking expanse of the Serengeti’s vast plains. The flight of the balloon safari serengeti lasts for 1-1,5 hour (depending on the weather) and starts at sunrise. This means an early departure from your lodge at around 4:45 am. After the hot-air balloon safari, a champagne bush breakfast will be waiting for you to make the experience even more unique than it already is.

Best time to do the Balloon Safari

The dry season (June to October) is the ideal time for a hot-air balloon safari. During the rainy months (March, April & May), some balloon rides are still available, but the actual flight is more dependent on weather conditions. During heavy rains and/or winds, the balloon unfortunately can’t take off. In this case, the flight will be cancelled and your payment will be fully refunded or rescheduled to another day if your trip itinerary allows it. 

As the hot-air balloon safari pilot inflates the gigantic balloon one last time, you feel a particular thrill permeate your body as you begin to float upwards into the crisp early morning skies above the endless savannahs of Tanzania or Kenya. Typically designed for a small group of adventurers, your hot-air balloon safari takes you above and beyond the expected. As you soar over the iconic plains of the Serengeti, Ruaha, the grasslands of the Masai Mara, or the red earth of Tarangire, you appreciate more fully the enormity of the vast landscape. The perspective offers a sense of the distance needing to be covered by the migrating herds and the challenges wildlife must overcome to survive. A hot-air balloon safari offers a unique vantage point as you glide over wildlife, witnessing their daily struggles and the photo opportunities these present.

The price of the balloon safari costs around 550 USD. The ride, transfers, and champagne bush breakfast after the landing are all included in the price. There are options for vegetarians available.

It surely is not cheap, but it’s definitely worth it. The balloon ride is great for special events like honeymoons, birthdays, other celebrations or just because it’s simply amazing.
